Ex-Gosden runner now with Chad Brown

Without Parole , winner of last year's St James's Palace Stakes for John Gosden, will represent the United States in Saturday's TVG Breeders' Cup Mile having been transferred to the care of Chad Brown.

The son of Frankel won his first four starts for Gosden, peaking at Royal Ascot, was fifth behind Japanese superstar Almond Eye in Dubai in March and ran his last race in Britain when trailing home in last place in the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury in May.

He got into the $2 million Mile from fourth place on the reserve list thanks in part to the decision of Brown to switch Bricks And Mortar, the leading miler in the US, to the 12-furlong Breeders' Cup Turf, with the card live on Sky Sports Racing.

Without Parole's owner-breeders, father and daughter John and Tanya Gunther, also bred last year's US Triple Crown winner Justify and 2016 Dirt Mile winner Tamarkuz and moved the colt to the US in August in search of firm ground.

"Ideally we would have liked to have had a prep race for Without Parole, but there wasn't sufficient time from when the horse shipped to the US," said Tanya Gunther.

"The Shadwell Turf Mile came up after only three published works, but he is training well and Chad is very pleased with him.

"When I visited Without Parole in August, he seemed to be really enjoying himself training in America. Recently he has been working with Bricks And Mortar, the best turf horse in the country, so he is keeping very good company."

Without Parole has not raced for six months, but Brown has been pleased with what he has seen since the four-year-old joined his barn.

"I got him in August and he's been training really well," he said. "He's a nice, sound horse and very straightforward. He came to me in good condition.

"It's a tough spot for your first time in the country and off form, but we thought we would take a shot because he was training particularly well, especially holding company with Bricks and Mortar in the mornings.

"I'm not sure what the owners' plans are, but we hope he stays in training in 2020."

Without Parole, who will be ridden by Irad Ortiz, will joined by stablemate Uni (Joel Rosario), who clinched her two Grade One victories against her own sex and is now taking on males.

"She's a horse who's catching her window right now. She's matured and reaching her peak," said Brown, a 12-time Breeders' Cup winner who has yet to taste victory in the Mile.
