Gordon Elliott is eager to give Apple's Jade another chance to shine following her disappointing return at Navan.

The 10-times Grade One was sent off the 1-4 favourite to put the lacklustre end to her last campaign behind her when turning out in the Lismullen Hurdle on Sunday.

However, she was beaten nine and a half lengths in second by Bacardys and while Elliott cannot explain the performance, he hopes for compensation in the Hatton's Grade Hurdle at Fairyhouse on December 1 – a race she has won for the last three years.

He said: "She seems to have come out of it OK. We'll just put a line through it and work back to the Hatton's Grace.

"She's had a few busy seasons, but we won't give up hope yet."

Regarding any further tests, he added: "We've done what we can do and now we'll see what happens."
