Debuchet  is set to put his unbeaten record over fences on the line at Ascot this week.

The 2017 Champion Bumper runner-up was unsuccessful in 11 starts over hurdles, but made a smart start to his chasing career when dominating from the front to beat a subsequent winner at Fairyhouse last month.

He has been given a mark of 131 by the British handicapper, and trainer Mags Mullins is looking forward to putting that rating to the test in the Ascot Supports Thames Hospice Novices' Limited Handicap Chase.

"He'll go to Ascot on Friday, all going well," said the Doninga-based trainer.

"He's very good, and I'm delighted with him. He worked this morning and worked well.

"I hope we get out and the weather doesn't change or anything, but I'm happy with him and happy to go."

Debuchet had troubled campaigns on and off the course over the past two winters.

Mullins added: "He seems to be well this year- whereas the last year and a half, we were struggling big time with him.

"He did have a lot of problems. If a human had the same problems, they wouldn't be right either."
