Judicial has begun his preparation for the Betway All-Weather Sprint Championship at Lingfield on Good Friday after returning from a winter break.

The Julie Camacho-trained speedster spent time at his owners Elite Racing Club's yard after booking his place with a convincing victory in the Golden Rose Stakes – a fast-track qualifier at the Surrey venue in November.

The eight-year-old will return to Lingfield on April 10 without another run.

"He came back from his owner's yard just before Christmas and he's just doing light exercise," said Steve Brown, husband and assistant to trainer Julie Camacho.

"He's cantering away, (and) we're very pleased with him.

"He's refreshed. He looks well – and all things being equal, he'll go direct to Lingfield.

"We might take him somewhere for a little blow, but it's not something we've done in the past. We normally get him in the condition we want at home. If we feel he needs a pipe-opener somewhere we can always adapt.

"At the moment we have time on our side, and we're working a week or two ahead – which we always try to do when we have a specific target. We're pleased with him and where we want to be."
