The opening day of the Goodwood Festival was a cracker. The stars - namely Stradivarius - came to play and the punters had a good time of things.

Hopefully that continues on day two where the feature, the Group One Sussex Stakes, shapes as a cracking contest between the three and four-year-olds.

The Racing and Sports Pricing Model's view of things can be summed up fairly succinctly - it prefers the four-year-olds.

Siskin heads up the market but the Model can't agree with that on the strength of his form/ratings to date. He's unbeaten, and untapped, but this will almost certainly take more winning than the Irish Guineas and he's got a step to make that seems less assured than the market is assuming at this stage.

The English Guineas was a stronger heat but Kameko is tied to Wichita through that form with both given a great opportunity to run fast there. They did, but both have been beaten since, and again the Model doesn't see them making this step quite as often as the market implies.

Mohaather lit up Ascot in the Summer Mile, running slick closing splits over the top of a good overall time/race, and it's not the only good rating in his array. He's got the most current form at the trip which is another tick in his column. The Model makes him favourite and it lights up on a couple of key variables for Circus Maximus as well.

For starters, Circus Maximus  is a last start Group 1 winner at the trip for connections that win a lot. That's good. He also started 4-1 in that Queen Anne, with Mohaather 6-1, and while the latter was unlucky it's far from certain he was unlucky enough to say that he should have beaten the winner. With Circus Maximus edging towards double figure quotes, and so many high percentage variables in his corner, he is a very easy saver to have for Mohaather backers. In fact, a case could be made that Mohaather should be the saver for him.
