Logician  is the star name among 14 entries for the Group Three Cumberland Lodge Stakes at Ascot.

Last year's St Leger hero made a triumphant return, after being off the track for 12 months, with a facile win over sole rival Mythical Magic back at Doncaster on September 10

Connections of John Gosden's classy four-year-old are keeping their weekend options open, having left Logician in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe – in which owner Khalid Abdullah has Enable.

Gosden is also represented among Saturday's Cumberland Lodge possibles by Humanitarian, who was sidelined for 14 months before making a winning comeback at Newbury.

There are five three-year-olds in the list – Al Aasy, Alpinista, Highland Chief, Litigator and Max Vega. Others in the mix include last year's winner Morando, Alignak and Desert Encounter.

Ayr Gold Cup winner Nahaarr is an interesting entry among a total of 20 in the Group Three John Guest Bengough Stakes.

The four-year-old, trained by William Haggas, gets the chance of Group Three glory after landing the valuable six-furlong handicap.

He could face several Pattern-race regulars – headed by Group One winner The Tin Man, Brando, Tabdeed and Cape Byron, who prevailed last year.

Another possible, Dakota Gold, also has an entry in the Listed tote.co.uk Rous Stakes over five furlongs – which he won 12 months ago – as do Robert Cowell's Aljady and Judicial, from Julie Camacho's stable.

Michael Dods' sprinter was third to Tarboosh in the Scarbrough Stakes at Doncaster on his latest start, and the Paul Midgley-trained seven-year-old could re-oppose.

Dods has also entered Que Amoro, who was second to Battaash in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York last month. Other smart types in the 24-strong list include Al Raya, Moss Gill and Motagally.
