Logician  will take on seven rivals as he tries to extend his unbeaten record to seven races in Saturday's tote.co.uk Cumberland Lodge Stakes at Ascot.

The four-year-old did not make his racecourse bow until May 2019, but he was unbeaten in five races last year, culminating in an impressive St Leger verdict at Doncaster.

However, he suffered a serious illness over the winter and only made his return to the track last month, strolling home in a match race back at Town Moor.

John Gosden's charge faces stiffer company in this Group Three heat, with Andrew Balding's pair of Alounak and Morando within striking distance on the official ratings while Desert Encounter was a Grade One winner in Canada for David Simcock last year.

Grand Prix de Paris fifth Highland Chief represents Paul and Oliver Cole with Euchen Glen, Litigator and Away He Goes completing the field.

Daahyeh, last seen when finishing second in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, makes her return for Roger Varian in the opening John Guest Racing British EBF Stakes.

The Listed event, better known as the October Stakes, also features Royal Ascot winner Onassis and Sir Michael Stoute's Jovial.

Varian has another fascinating runner on the card in Cape Byron, who bids for back-to-back victories in the John Guest Racing Bengough Stakes.

The six-year-old was a clear-cut victor in the Group Three last year, but has not been seen since subsequently disappointing on Champions Day back at the Berkshire track.

He takes on nine rivals – including veteran Group One winners The Tin Man and Brando, Breathtaking Look, Raucous and Dubai Station.

Tarboosh, Dakota Gold, Moss Gill and Makanah – first, third, sixth and seventh respectively in last month's Scarbrough Stakes – cross swords again in the tote.co.uk Rous Stakes over five furlongs.

Hat-trick seeker Aljady, Tis Marvellous and Al Raya are other names of note among 14 contenders for the Listed event.
