John Gosden has three candidates under consideration for next month’s Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland – Royal Ascot winner Lord North plus the fillies Terebellum and Mehdaayih.

While the trip for stable superstar Enable was ruled out by her retirement and the likes of Palace Pier, Mishriff and Stradivarius have finished for the year, the five-time Breeders' Cup winning trainer could contest two of the turf races at Keeneland.

Speaking to the Nick Luck Daily Podcast, the Newmarket trainer said: "At the moment we are considering Lord North, who hated the ground at Ascot. He could be all right maybe for the Turf.

"We have Terebellum, who we didn't run in the mile [Queen Elizabeth II Stakes]," he went on. "She could go for the Filly & Mare and we are also looking at it with Mehdaayih, who actually ricked her back when she ran in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes and has only had one run since. A final decision has to be made at the weekend."

Mehdaayih finished fifth in Ascot's Fillies & Mares on her first start since June. "She ran well coming straight into a mile and a half," Gosden added.

The trainer drew a rare blank at the Champions Day meeting, run on testing ground, but confirmed that confirmed Palace Pier – who lost a shoe in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes – Mishriff, Stradivarius and Lord North will all stay in training next year.
