Ryan Moore is not that frequent a visitor to Lingfield during the winter months – but he is making sure it counts when he does as her partnered his second four-timer at the Surrey circuit within two weeks.

The former champion jockey, who was in Saudi Arabia last weekend, finished second in the opener on Hugo Palmer's Convertible when Enough Already collared him in the final stride.

Moore then made no mistake as Brian Meehan's Glentaneous justified cramped odds of 2-5 in the Play Ladbrokes 5-A-Side On Football Novice Stakes.

He then won the Bombardier British-Hopped Amber Beer Handicap on Andrew Balding's Grove Ferry (9-4) and the Betway Maiden Stakes on Richard Hughes' Crimson Sand (85-40 favourite).

The latter strode four and three-quarter lengths clear of Miss Bella Brand, and winning trainer Richard Hughes observed: "We hadn't had a winner for a couple of months. We'd been running lowly-rated horses but nevertheless I was a bit nervous as this horse had been working well.

"He was a very handsome sight walking round the parade ring, and though we had a few niggly problems with him last year he'd had a clear run coming into today. Ryan was happy enough and said he was quite green, and would be better going six furlongs."

While he was out of luck in the feature Betway Winter Derby on Johnny Drama, he ended the day with a winner in the Betway Casino Handicap as Arabescato (9-2) took the finale for Nick Littmoden.

Of his final winner, Moore said: "He's been running well and deserved that. The step up in trip helped him."

The sun-drenched track was a place begging for the return of crowds as it bathed in early spring sunshine.

Enough Already's victory in the Read Katie Walsh On Betway Insider Handicap providing an absolute thriller, the lead changing four times in the final furlong ahead of a last-gasp triumph.

No sooner had early pacesetter Kendergarten Kop given way to Central City than both Toro Dorada and Convertible arrived on the scene. The latter grabbed the advantage with only 50 yards to go, but was nailed in the final stride as Dougie Costello conjured a dream run from Enough Already.

The winner started 14-1 but was not unfancied by connections. Costello said of the Lee Carter-trained winner: "If you go back through his form he was a nice animal that lost his way a bit. His Wolverhampton run has worked out, and my plan to follow Ryan (Moore, on Convertible) all the way paid off.

"It took my horse a while to reach top gear, but this was a step in the right direction."
