Pradaro  made most of the running to spring a major upset in the Prix du Gros-Chene at Chantilly.

Horses drawn near the far rail had the edge in the Group Two over five furlongs, with Pradaro smartly away from stall four.

Berneuil , from stall three, came with a strong challenge but Pradaro found extra to assert close home and score an unlikely success jockey Aurelien Lemaitre.

Batwan, drawn one, was third, while Karl Burke's UK raider Lady In France could never get near enough to threaten from her wide draw.

The licence is held by Sofie Lanslots, who has eight horses with her husband William in Belgium.

She said: "This just shows you that dreams can come true. It's our first Group winner and nobody can take it away from us."

Her husband combines running a building company with training the horse, and was overjoyed with the decision to run.

He said: "I've seen him grow into himself so much in the last month. Everything was perfect, I just had to decide between this race and one in the south.

"It was a bit daunting to think we were up against the best French runners here, but it looks like I chose right."

The Jerome Reynier-trained Thunder Drum  was a decisive winner of the Group Three Prix de Royaumont in the colours of Lady Bamford, beating Ricla and Omnia Munda Mundis.
