Triggered  finally justified trainer Mark Loughnane's faith when ending an 18-race losing run in the Sky Sports Racing HD Virgin 535 Handicap at Lingfield.

The five-year-old gelding came good after losing all his 10 starts since joining Loughnane from Ed Walker in October 2019, with his last success coming 13 months before that.

Triggered (11-4) lost his way – although his homework has continued to impress the Kidderminster handler. He finally showed spark on the track with a determined display to lead in the final half-furlong under David Probert, see off Recall The Show by a length and complete a quick double for his trainer.

"I've been very disappointed the last six months with him," Loughnane told Sky Sports Racing.

"When we paid 70,000 guineas for him from Ed Walker's he looked a real progressive horse. I had him gelded, which was probably the wrong decision at the time.

"He just came and lost his way. But I was very disappointed, because he works like an express train at home.

"It looks like he can progress – the handicapper has been good to him and dropped him a bit.

"If he had got beat today, I wouldn't have been nice to drive home with in the car. I was confident – and now I'm very happy."

Laurence Bellman, one of Triggered's co-owners, also enjoyed success in his own colours with Loughnane's other winner, Well Prepared (10-1).

Talented apprentice Marco Ghiani brought the four-year-old with a late run to register his first success from eight starts in the Get Hugh Taylor's Tips On attheraces.com Handicap – by half a length from Mungo's Quest.

"That was a bit of a surprise," said Loughnane.

"We bought him out of Richard Hannon's in October. I gelded him, and he fell asunder on us.

"The handicapper has been good dropping him. He's down to a mark of 57. Realistically, he should be winning again from what he was at Mr Hannon's.

"The horses are well. That's our 19th winner this year. Happy days."

Yagan (7-4) completed a quick hat-trick with a hard-fought success in the Witheford Barrier Trials 22nd June Handicap.

The Sir Mark Prescott-trained three-year-old made most of the running, and gamely kept 5-6 favourite Keeper at bay to score by half a length under Luke Morris.

"I thought the second kept on very well, and our horse stays," said Prescott.

"That's his third (win) in 10 days days, so he's done well.

"He'll probably have a breather now, and we'll see what the handicapper does on Tuesday. That's the nightmare day."

Morris completed a double on Sagittarius (3-1 favourite) in the Free Tips Daily On attheraces.co Restricted Maiden Stakes, for trainer Archie Watson.

Adaay To Remember (3-1), trained by Patrick Owens, put up a smart performance when trouncing 8-11 favourite Exuding by four and a three-quarter lengths in the Download The Free At The Races App Fillies' Novice Stakes under Louis Steward.

Apprentice George Bass got Denis Coakley's Waterloo Sunset (18-1) to score at the sixth attempt in the Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap – while Kevin Frost's Aleef (12-1) struck for the first time in 14 months under Trevor Whelan in the Visit attheraces.com/marketmovers Handicap.
