Brendan Walsh believes there is still more to come from Maxfield  as he builds towards the Breeders' Cup at Del Mar, with his next outing scheduled for the Woodward Stakes at Belmont.

Second to Knicks Go  in the Whitney last time out, Walsh feels the Godolphin-owned four-year-old has still to reach his full potential.

The son of Street Sense has already overcome two lengthy absences in his career and it is for that reason Walsh still thinks he can eke out some more improvement before the Breeders' Cup Classic.

"He's doing great, he came out of the Whitney in great shape," said Walsh.

"He's running on October 2 in the Woodward Stakes at Belmont which is five weeks out from the Breeders' Cup, so hopefully that sets him up nicely for the Classic.

"He worked great the other day and hopefully he'll have a few companions to go with.

"A few people have mentioned the Dirt Mile might suit him, but I think right now it's going to be the Classic.

"He's a great horse, he's only been beaten twice and shows up every time. He's having a great career for a horse who's had his issues and problems.

"I still don't think he's quite there, but hopefully by Breeders' Cup time I think we'll have close enough to the finished article."
