And Buick keeps up title challenge with treble.
Roger Charlton was delighted to see Pleasant Man get his season back on track with victory in the feature event on the third and final day of the Eastern Festival at Yarmouth.
A winner on his racecourse debut at Haydock 12 months ago, the Galileo gelding rounded off his juvenile campaign by finishing a close-up fifth in the Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket.
A narrow success at Salisbury aside, Pleasant Man's three-year-old campaign had been a little underwhelming prior to contesting the Follow @AtTheRaces On Twitter Handicap.
But under a power-packed ride from Derby-winning jockey Adam Kirby, Charlton's charge dug deep to come out on top in a thrilling three-way finish, with Marshall Plan beaten a head into second and The Trader just a neck further behind in third.
Charlton said: "I thought Adam gave him a terrific ride. It was quite a tough race and I'm obviously pleased to see him come out on top.
"He ran well in the Royal Lodge last season. He's been a disappointing since, but he's won at Salisbury and has now won at Yarmouth, which is better than most.
"He's a very sound, solid horse. We'll have a look and see what there is between now and the end of the season, but he is a horse who actually likes fast ground."
Mighty Ulysses looks sure to go on to bigger and better things judged on an impressive debut performance in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes.
A 170,000 guineas purchase as a yearling on behalf of prominent owner Saeed Suhail, the John and Thady Gosden-trained colt was a 9-4 chance for his racecourse introduction in the hands of Rab Havlin.
Despite displaying signs of inexperience during the early stages, Mighty Ulysses showed a smart change of gear to run down his rivals and he was good value for the winning margin of three and a quarter lengths over Godolphin newcomer and 6-5 favourite Ingleton.
Suhail's racing manager, Bruce Raymond, said: "He had been working very nicely in the mornings. I don't know how good he is, but he's going the right way.
"He's not a good horse yet. We'll see how he comes out of it. We'll play it down.
"You don't know what he's beaten, but you'd expect him to come on a hell of a lot for that first run. He's a lovely horse."
Chris Dwyer and Silvestre de Sousa combined to land the opening Free Tips On attheraces.com Nursery with 3-1 shot Global Wisdom, while the Patrick Owens-trained Wajd justified 13-8 favouritism in the British EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes under William Buick.
The latter went on to complete a treble, as he continues to chase Oisin Murphy in the title race – scoring aboard James Fanshawe's 5-2 market leader Jasmine Joy in the British EBF Premier Fillies' Handicap before steering Mark Johnston's Forest Falcon (13-2) to victory in the Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap.
