Despite Modern Games' considerable success as a three-year-old, the colt will be aiming for a first domestic victory in the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.
Winner of the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf at Del Mar as a juvenile, Modern Games continued his international travels in 2022 with success in the Group 1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2000 Guineas), the Grade 1 Woodbine Mile and the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Mile.
The Gosdens' Laurel will be bidding for a record-equally sixth victory in the Lockinge for Frankie Dettori. Originally expected to ride ruled-out Inspiral, Dettori has switched to the Listed Snowdrop Fillies Stakes winner, who finished second in last year's Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes.
Mutasaabeq was an impressive winner of the Group 2 bet365 Mile at Newmarket on his seasonal reappearance for trainer Charlie Hills and jockey Jim Crowley. The five-year-old looks better than ever and could continue his run of good form.
William Haggas is represented by My Prospero. The performance of the four-year-old will dictate whether connections plump for the 1m2f Group 1 Prince of Wales Stakes or the 1m Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.
