The yard uses the local landscape to their advantage, with the horses able to train on the natural gallops located nearby.

Katie Scott puts an emphasis on schooling the horses to encourage suppleness, keep their minds active and to provide a solid foundation for any future ridden career once retired from racing.  She has three runners at Hamilton Park on Thursday afternoon, so we caught up with her this morning.

Gweedore - For Lamont Racing our stable star kicked off the season in fine style with a decisive win at Musselburgh (on ITV), he followed that up with a great run at Haydock.  His two runs since have been disappointing but with excuses. It would be no surprise to see him bounce back to his best, especially if we can get him into a race closer to home, nice ground and round a bend.

Slainte Mhath - This filly has done nothing but improve, however it has not gone unnoticed by the handicapper, and she is up 19 lb from her opening mark, however, has been quiet of late as she likes a cut in the ground.  She may take up an entry at Southwell on Tuesday as we are interested to see how she would perform over 7 furlongs.  Jockey thinks 7f may suit, trainer is unsure! The tapeta seems to be riding slow at the minute so it could work. However, I am sure there is more to come from her when there is a cut in the ground whether it is over 6f or 7f.

Jungle Jean - A 2 yo by Bungle Inthejungle that has joined the yard from the GOFFS Breeze Ups for URSA Major Racing, this scopey filly looks to have plenty of potential. She has a strong dam page to. Anything she does at 2 will be a bonus as she looks the type that will strengthen and grow a lot over the next year. Exciting!

Sacred Falls - Star Racing picked this filly up from the Godolphin Consignment at Tatts Feb Sale. They have been very patient as she had immature knees, it looks to be paying off as she has developed into a cracking stamp of a filly. She has a great pedigree page and the looks to match. We are just ramping up her work at the minute, but I am hoping she can fulfil her potential.

Flash Bulb - She joined The Making Headway Racing team at the back end of 2022 from Joseph O'Brien's yard after a couple of average runs in Ireland.  However, she shows plenty at home and her last run has seen the form work out well.  Although she has not excelled on the track for us, I do feel like the penny may just drop and see her progress. Fingers crossed as she is a stunning big mare and her owners have given her time and patience.
