The six-year-old became the first horse since Galileo to complete the Derby-King George double when taking the two Group 1 races in 2021.

Although unable to win a Group 1 since his comfortable defeat of Mishriff in the 2021 King George, Adayar continued to compete at the top level including when second in the ten furlong Group 1 British Champion Stakes in October 2022. He made a successful reappearance when winning the Group 3 Gordon Richard Stakes at Newmarket and finished third in the Group 1 Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot subsequently.

In a statement released on the Godolphin website, Charlie Appleby said "Adayar provided the team with two outstanding days on the racecourse at Epsom and Ascot and has been a firm favourite in the yard for the past three seasons. He has been an absolute pleasure to train.

"He will be sorely missed at Moulton Paddocks but we look forward to watching him in his new career at stud and are quite sure he will be a huge success."

Godolphin will announce future stud plans for Adayar in due course.
