Four teams - Great Britain & Ireland, Rest of the World, Ladies and Europe – with three jockeys each compete across six races for the Shergar Cup. The teams are:

EUROPE

Frankie Dettori (c)
Thore Hammer Hansen
Olivier Peslier

LADIES
Hayley Turner (c)
Hollie Doyle
Saffie Osborne

REST OF THE WORLD
Vincent Ho (c)
Joao Moreira
Kazuo Yokoyama

GB & IRELAND
Luke Morris (c)
Tom Marquand
Declan McDonogh

Each race is limited to ten runners, with the aim of all jockeys achieving five rides across the card. Points are awarded for first (15), second (10), third (7), fourth (5) and fifth (3). In the event of a non-runner which cannot be replaced by a reserve, the team and jockey receive 4 points for the loss of ride/runner.

The jockey who achieves the most amount of points over the course of the afternoon will win the Alistair Haggis Silver Saddle Trophy and £3,000. Hayley Turner, captain of the Ladies team, has won the Silver Saddle Trophy twice (2018 and 2019).

There is plenty of excellent prize money on offer with each race worth £80,000. The winner of each race will earn £39,344 and prize money is earnt all the way to last place, with the tenth horse achieving £98

In addition to the prize money, there is an additional stable bonus pot of £25,000 for the top three leading yards. The stable that achieves the most amount of points will earn £12,500 - £10,000 to the trainer and £2,500 to the stable staff. Second and third place will get £9,000 and £3,500 respectively.

The Shergar Cup competition has been running since 2000 and current sponsors Dubai Duty Free have been involved from the outset. They initially sponsored the Rest Of The World team and became the entire event sponsor from 2014.

Jockeys and teams will receive allocated horses across the six race card with an approximate equal chance. All ten horses in each race are ranked 1 to 10, and a ballot is drawn to work out which set of horses will be given to each team.

There are four jockeys making their Shergar Cup debut on Saturday: Luke Morris, Tom Marquand, Thore Hammer Hansen, Saffie Osborne and Kazuo Yokoyama.

Hayley Turner has the best record of the participating jockeys. She has recorded nine wins at fifteen Shergar Cup appearances, amassing 322 points.

It will be Frankie Dettori's last time in the Shergar Cup, as he intends to retire at the end of the season. The Italian will captain the Europe team and has achieved two wins from eleven previous appearances at the meeting.
