Sam King tipped Baez to score at 15/8 yesterday and he returns with three selections including a pair of strong fancies from Chelmsford.

Oisin Murphy looks to have a good book of rides at Chelmsford this afternoon and I'm hopeful he can take out the Gentlemen's Day 30th September Handicap at 4.25 with Daisy Roots.

Adam West's filly won a mile classified event on soft ground at Ffos Las in July and proved she remained in form with two placed efforts in handicap company since. There could easily be more to come from her on this second start over a mile and a quarter (placed at Brighton on only effort to date) and stall nine may prove no bad thing with a handful of horses likely to want to go forward around her.

In terms of opposition, not many of her opponents inspire much confidence and she definitely looks like the most likely winner in what can be considered a moderate affair.

Selection: Daisy Roots - General 11/4

Our second selection also comes from Chelmsford and Oscar Doodle should be capable of getting back to winning ways in the Greene King Classified Stakes at 4.55.

The four-year-old grey makes his first start in Classified company here and arrives fresh off the back of two solid-placed runs at Newcastle. Connections opted for different tactics when he made the running to finish third over a mile and a quarter at the Gosforth Park venue last time and although it nearly paid off, I expect him to be ridden quieter from stall seven here.

His sole outing at this track resulted in success over course and distance back in May and the Brian Ellison team can be rewarded once again by making the long journey south.

Selection: Oscar Doodle - General 7/4

The Racing League might not be everybody's cup of tea, but it certainly offers some competitive handicap action for punters to get stuck into.

Newcastle is the venue of choice for the team-based competition this evening and I'm a fairly big advocate of following course and distance form at Gosforth Park.

The opening William Hill Epic Boost Racing League Race 22 Handicap (5.45) sees thirteen going to post in what looks like a tricky affair on paper but I'm confident of a bold showing from Wynter Wildes.

Charlie Fellowes will surely have had this race in mind for some time given he landed the contest twelve months ago with Wynter Wildes and the return to Newcastle should be right up her street.

She ran perfectly respectable when fifth in the Racing League at Windsor last time but it's the form of her course and distance success prior that catches the eye. The daughter of Tamayuz didn't have things run to suit on that occasion but still showed a willing attitude to come out on top and she should get a better pace to aim at this time around.

A mark of 80 shouldn't be an issue given she won this off only 2lb lower last season and it's tough not to see her being firmly involved at the business end granted a smooth passage this evening.

Selection: Wynter Wildes – General 5/1
