The second round of the Dubai Carnival is on at Meydan Friday.
There are 2 G2s and a G3 on the card plus trials for some of the other races.
The Al Rashidiya is G2 over 1800m on the turf and is seen as a prep for the Dubai Turf. One trainer who may sneak his horse in ahead of the Godolphin avalanche is David O'Meara who saddles his "9yo wonder horse" Lord Gllitters, a recent winner of the Bahrain International Trophy. Dan Tudhope will ride and they are on 5/2.
William Buick has opted for Art du Vol from Charlie Appleby's yard on 5/1 and James Doyle will be on board the stablemate Royal Fleet (11/2).
The Al Fahidi Fort is also G2 over 1400m on turf and this time the Godolphin wall looks impenetrable. Naval Crown did well as a 3yo and then was put back into cotton wool and emerges here for Appleby-Buick on evens in the UK. Stablemate La Barrosa was third over this trip recently and will have James Doyle in the irons – 5/1. Land of Legends comes from the bin Suroor yard and has Dettori riding – the horse won this last year but is resuming after a lengthy lay-off and they are 4/1.
The Dubawi Stakes is G3 over 1200m dirt with 7 to run and Doug Watson is confident his pair will do well. Canvassed is 3/2 with Atzeni on board and Al Tariq 5/2 with Pat Dobbs riding. We rather like Ibn Malik on 11/2.
