Collier Hill to Melbourne?

3 minute read

Collier Hill, winner of the Irish St Leger and second to Heart’s Cry in the Dubai Sheema, may be heading to the Melbourne Cup.

UK!

Collier Hill missed out on a run in the Yorkshire Cup when the ground turned liquid and may now be headed to races either in Germany or Royal Ascot as trainer Alan Swinbank works on a campaign that may lead to Melbourne in November.

In his absence the Yorkshire Cup went to Percussionist, a known swimmer, with Sergeant Cecil putting in a good run for second. Orcadian ran third and favourite Kastoria, clearly not happy with the going ran fourth, to be followed home by the two Godolphin runners and Winged d’Argent.

Saturday at Newbury saw another nice Stoute winner in Peeress who defeated Majors Cast, Court Masterpiece and Soviet Song to win the Lockinge. Peeress had a nice trail behind Soviet Song and when she went to the front kicked on. She may now go to the Queen Anne. Majors Cast and Court Masterpiece were just a bit short of gas in the end having had to battle into the wind as well.
