Prix du Palais Royal and Sunday du Jockey Club

3 minute read

Longchamp on Saturday hosts the G3 Prix du Palais Royal over 1400m which has attracted a field of 15, and on Sunday activities move to Chantilly.

France!

For the Palais Royal Moonlight Cloud looks well placed here with English raider Firebeam, to be ridden by Christophe Soumillon a possibility and we also like Fred Lalloupet.

On Sunday there's a fabulous card starting with the G3 Prix Royaumont for 3yo fillies over 2400m with 7 to run.

Mandistana from the Alain de Royer-Dupre yard is having her third start but looks promising and may be around 3/1. The Wildenstein runner Best of All may be next best and Yellow and Green the third pick.

The Prix de Sandringham G2 for fillies over 1600m has 9 runners. Mashoora is favourite both in France and UK, followed by Topeka 7/2 and we rather like Dark Orchid, a Godolphin France runner around 6.0 in France and 8/1 in UK.

The Jockey Club itself is G1 and is over the recent trip of 2100m. There are 20 colts to go to post with the unbeaten Kesampour on top at 4/1. French Fifteen is 6/1, Godolphin's Saint Baudolino 7/1, Albion, with Frankie Dettori riding and he's not a Godolphin horse is on 8/1.

The Grand Prix de Chantilly is G2 over 2200m for 4y+ and has 5 runners headed by Dunedin, the Melbourne and Hong Kong Cup winner, this time with his Melbourne Cup jockey Christophe Lemaire riding, He's never been out of the first 3 and while he is capable of longer he's a very versatile horse.

The English rider Aiken may be his biggest threat.

The Prix Gros-Chene is G2 over 1000m with 11 3y+ to run and it looks as usual to be in the hands of the English raiders. Prohibit is on 3.0, Wizz Kid 3.50 and Beyond Desire 5.00.
