Darwin's Fannie Bay track was a picture today as patrons gathered to celebrate one of the top end's big days.
The feature race was the Palmerstone Sprint in which Captain Punch started the odds-on favourite and eas expected to give jockey Brendon Davis a treble. However as is often the case with odds-on favourites it didn't quite work out that way. It was Handsome Tycoon ridden by Paul Denton who raced around the turn and established a lead that was never threatened, Silent Whisper ran on well for second and Price Harada took third, giving trainer Gary Clarke the first and third. It was Paul Denton's 8th win in the race, with his first coming in 1983!
