No Cracksman but a cracker finish

3 minute read

Stablemates Poet's Word and Crystal Ocean provided an epic finish to the G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

This provided Sit MIchael Stoute with a seventh winner in this race and he was very proud of both his runners after the race. They are entered in all the major races but decisions on their future engagements will be made after the horses recover from this outing.

As anticipated Cracksman did not run as the ground was declared unsuitable for him, so John Gosden had to be satisfied with a third from Coronet who was 9 lengths behind the first two home.

Earlier the Princess Margaret saw Angel's HIdeaway get the better of Royal Intervention.

And now it's off to Goodwood!
