Three out of four Brits survive!

3 minute read

There were four Brits riding in the 128th Velká Pardubická run on a sunny Sunday on the famous cross country course and three finished

However it was again the turn of top Czech rider Jan Faltejsek to take the win on Tzigane du Berlais, winning by 5 lengths to Hegnus. James Best was the best of the Brits coming third on Stretton, after having his lead into the straight cut out by the first two finishers. Josef Váńa father and son combined with favourite No Time To Lose and finished fifth just behind the stablemate Zarif.

Leighton Aspell’s mount Vajgara fell on the first circuit but Andrew Glassonbury and Nikan finished 9th and James Best and Ribelino were the last of the 11 finishers with the margin described as “distant” which is the polite term for 105 ¼ lengths.

The time for the race was 9m5.56, a minute slower than the record. The day was sunny and there was a near-record crowd in attendance.
