Douglas makes it 1800 winners

3 minute read

It was Happy Valley that saw Douglas Whyte bring home winner No. 1800, on a horse called Good Omen!

Whyte has had a fabulous career and what is even better is that it is continuing - the jockey says he feels fit and not in any need to consider a "future career" at this stage.

That was in a Class 3 race which came in between the two Class 2. The first of these, Race 7, was over 1650m and was one by a roughie in Jade Fortune who started on 37.0, defeating the favourite Turin Roadstar by a nose. Super Turbo ran third and Sichuan Dart fourth.

Race 10 was over 1200m and went to the outsider of the field Almababy. Full marks to Jenny Chapman who picked him from the paddock because, as she said, he could be all over the place but to her eyes he looked fantastic. He defeated California Fortune with Gunnison third and Eptimam third.

It seems that holding a Sunday daytime meeting at Happy Valley proved a popular move with many people asking for more daytime meetings at the Valley.
