Colm O'Donoghue on the board in Japan

3 minute read

Irish jockey Colm O'Donoghue has returned to Japan for another short-term licence run during the European winter and scored in the Copa Argentina G2.

He was riding the talented runner Perform A Promise who was returning to the track after a lengthy absence and showed his delight at being back as did the jockey when they beat the favourite Muito Obrigado by 3/44 length to win the 2500m contest.

It was then 3 lengths back to the roughie Makoto Galahad who took third money.

Japan will be cheering for Chestnut Coat in Tuesday's Melbourne Cup. Yuju Kawada is coming to ride him and he is currently on 34.00. Rain and a storm are forecast so who knows what might happen.
