Back in action at Ascot and Haydock

3 minute read

As well as several other tracks, but those two host the top races for Saturday 16th.

As Ascot that means the Gr2 Reynoldstown Novices' Chase and the Gr2 Denman Chase.

Despite the outcries over the closedown these two races have not attracted a lot of runners - 5 in the Reynoldstown and only 4 for the Denman.

The former looks entirely suitable for Philip King's Top Ville Ben who likes to lead and has won his last two outings. 5/2 available and 11/4 for Colin Tizzard's Mister Malarky who is racing well.

The Denman sees KIng George winner Clan des Obeaux odds-on at 2/5 with Harry Cobden in the irons. Next best is Terrefort 5/2.

At Haydock the going is good to soft and 5 runners line up for the Rendlesham Hurdle Gr 2 with Alan King's Yanworth favourite on 11/1o. Clyne, who may prefer softer going, is on 3/1.

The Albert Bartlett Prestige Novices' Hurdle Gr 2 has 10 runners. The improving Kateson is on 7/4 but is quite open after that. Stoney Mountain is 9/2 and the Tizzard horses are in such good form we could be tempted by Rockport at 9/1.
