With Hugh Bowman able to position him perfectly and while the challenge came from Waikuku he was able to charge forward and claim the victory for trainer Frankie Lor who is only in his second full season as a trainer.

Many of his original owners and trainer Kris Lees were in town to see the race and were delighted with the way he has developed and there may be more to come as it seems that he could head to the QEII. Certainly Bowman who rode Werther to victory in both races seems to think that it could be the right path to follow.

Earlier we saw another emerging champion when Full of Beauty easily won the Ambitious Dragon over 1200m. The Darci Brahma product started at amazing odds-on but lived up to the hype.

And in the get-out we managed to get-out nicely with our roughie Encouraging quinellaing the race with favourite Tornado Twist and King Opie ran third.
