In the US at the weekend

3 minute read

There is still a great deal of uncertainty about the required drug changes at Santa Anita but it looks as if a compromise has been reached.

The compromise of course may do nothing as it proposes to lower the quantity of lasix by 50% but that seems to be what will be the case in order for racing to recommence at Santa Anita.

Meantime lasix-permitted racing continued at Gulfstream Park, which is another Stronach track. The Inside Information Gr 2 saw American's Tale come from the rear and overtake Razorback Lady and favourite Tequilita and Pink Sands the fourth home.

At Oaklawn Park the Azeri saw Elate start as evens favourite but the original favourite Midnight Bisou come through to win her 7th start. She has 6 placings as well from 13 starts and has won just under US$2 million and may pass that benchmark if she goes to the Apple Blossom.

The Rebel had to be split into two sections and presumably both winners will get the max points. Long Range Toddy was the 8/1 winner of the first division defeating Improbable, the odds-on favourite, and Galilean with Extra Hope the fourth home. The second division went to Omaha Beach 4/1 from Game Winner the odds-on favourite with Market King third at 48/1.
