A busy weekend in the US

3 minute read

Well, especially the Saturday where there are Kentucky Derby preps and all sorts of top races at Aqueduct, Keeneland and Santa Anita.

Starting off in New York where it is Wood Memorial day at Aqueduct but we start off with the Gazelle Gr 2 for the 3yo fillies and in this case points for the Kentucky Oaks. There's only 6 runners for the 1800m contest where Espresso Shot holds the call at 9/5 and Positive Spirit is on 5/2.

The Carter is Gr 1 over 1400m with a field of 8. World Of Trouble is on 1/1, our good friend Vino Rosso is 5/2 and Honor Up 6/1.

The Wood Memorial is for 3yo over 1800m with the winner getting 100 Kentucky Derby points. Tacitus is on top here on 5/2 from Haikai on 7/2, Tax 9/2 and Outshine on 6/1.

At Keeneland the Shakertown Gr 2 sees some familiar faces clashing in this 1100m turf sprint. The track is good so that is a change from the surface that some of these have seen in recent times so there may be a different result. At present Disco Partner is on 5/2, last year's winner Bound for Nowhere and Conquest Tsunomi are on 4/1 and Will Call is on 6/1.

The Madison Gr 1 for f&m over 1400m has Shamrock Rose at 5/2, California raider Spiced Perfection and Late NIght are on 7/2, and Amy's Challenge is on 4/1.

The Ashland is for 3yo fillies over 1700m and has Kentucky Oaks points available. Jaywalk is on 8/5,

Feedback 3/1 and Restless Rider 5/2.

The Blue Grass is for the 3yo boys over 1800m with 100 Kentucky Derby points for the winner. Vekoma is on 9/5, Win Win Win 7/2 and Signalman 5/1.

A big day too at Santa Anita where Bellafina 2/5 and Chasing Yesterday 3/1 are set to meet in the Santa Anita Oaks over 1700m.

The Royal Heroine is Gr 2 over 1600m turf with 7 runners. Vasilika is odds-on at 3/5, Raven's Lady 7/2 and we have to put in Ms Bad Behaviour on 4/1.

The Santa Anita Derby is over 1800m with 6 runners and 100 Kentucky Derby points available. Bafferts sends out Game Winner on 4/5 and Real Star on 5/2 and we like Instagrad on 3/1.

And then there is the Santa Anita Handicap or the Big Cap where Baffert's McKinzie is on 4/5 with Mike Smith riding and Gift Box 6/5 in the 2000m race which has a field of 6.
