Some horses did not have happy outcomes and Barry Geraghty broke his leg in a fall in the Topham.
It turned out to be more favourable for Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy as they got a double in the first two races when The Three Musketeers on 8/1 won the Merseyrail and them Felix Desjy the Novices’ Hurdle with a 1 ½ length margin over Aramon and Rouge Vif.
The Mildmay Novices’ Chase Gr 1 saw Lostintranslation turn the tale of Topofthegame by 6 lengths.
And the Melling/JLT Chase Gr 1 saw Min finally produce the race we have all been waiting for and finish a very easy 20 lengths ahead of Politologue with Waiting Patiently still waiting – 3rd a further 9 lengths back.
The Topham Handicap Chase was where Barry Geraghty came to grief: the win went to Cadmium – Mullins –Townend 8/1 from one of our roughies Sub Lieutenant on 28/1 and Doitforthevillage third on 25/1.
The Sefton Gr 1 saw the Champ on top where he belongs, defeating Emiton and Lisnager Oscar.
