An amazing record in the Grand National

3 minute read

Roll of drums please for Tiger Roll who has become the first horse since Red Rum to win a second consecutive Grand National.

And at the same short price of 4/1 which hasn't been seen since the days of Red Rum. For the record Tiger Roll is trained by Gordon Elliott and was ridden superbly by Davy Russell who rode him like the good thing he was. Magic Of Light was second ahead of the Mullins-Walsh Rathvinden with Walk In The Mill fourth and Annibale Fly fifth. 19 horses finished the race, 2 were brought down, 2 unseated their riders, 3 fell and the remainder were pulled up. However all honour and glory to Tiger Roll who has shown that you can get the better of Aintree.

Earlier the day started with the Gaskells Handicap Hurdle Grade 3 saw Au Pttits Soins win a very open race with Tommy Rapper 20/1 second, Keeper Hill 25/1 third and Burbank 25/1 fourth. Sire De Berlais was back in 8th.

The Mersey Noivces' Hurdle Gr 1 went to Reserve Tank 20/1 for the team of Colin Tizzard and Robbie Power who had been a bit quiet up till now. Brewinupastorm was second and there was a dead heat for third between Angel's Breath and One For 'Rosie.

The Maghull went to Henry de Bromhead with Ornua ridden by Davy Russell - the first of a double for him Usandthem was second, our pick Destrier third and Clondaw Castle fourth.

The Stayers' was a bit of an upset when If The Cap Fits won by a head from Roksana with Apple's Jade the hot favourite a neck away third.

The Betway saw Kidisart win by 5 lengths from Mister Malarky with Oldgrangewood . 10 finished and 8 were pulled up.
