Admire Mars wins NHK Mile

3 minute read

Fortunately at Tokyo on Sunday there was no repetition of the hail storm which had brought Saturday's racing to an abrupt halt.

Admire Mars under Mirco Demuro while not breaking well managed to get a good position in the run and in the straight was able to drive ahead and finish in front of the fast-finishing Cadence Call who started on 87.7 and ran a very fast final section.  He's by Lord Kanaloa so not a total surprise.  Third went to Catedral, the mount of Brenton Avdulla, who was only a nose back.  Gran Alegria the favourite was fourth over the line but demoted to fifth and Danon Chaser promoted to fourth.  Damian :Lane's Mount Groove It got blocked coming into the straight and could not get out, finishing 10th.  Admire Mars had previosly run 4th in the Satsuki Sho over 2000m so the drop in trip obviously suited him.

On Saturday in Kyoto Red Genial was the shock winner of the Kyoto Shimbun Hai for the 3yos defeating Roger Barrows and Brenton Avdulla getting thie first of his two graded stales thirds for the weekend on Satono Solomon with Naimana fourth.

News from Hong Kong is that Beauty Generation is not coming to Japan for the Yasuda Kinen and the potential clash with Almond Eye.  A great shame.
