Zac’s six-timer

3 minute read

One would be hard placed to name a jockey riding better than Zac Purton these days as he rode an impressive 6-timer at Sha Tin on Sunday including the G1 Champions & Chater.

Joao Moreira had a 4-timer so between them they had 10 of the 11 winners on the day.  And for the record the rider of the other winner was James McDonald.

So to the Champions & Chater.  It wasn’t a soft win for Exultant who had to dig deep to find his finish but he did it, beating Rise High 43/1 by 1 ½ lengths with Dark Dream only a neck away in third. Pakistan Star was fourth but probably didn’t get the trip.  No Happy Grins from the Japanese fans as their horse finished not quite last.

There had been plans to send Exultant to Japan for the Takarazuka Kinen but after the race connections felt that would be too tough and ask and will think about a trip to Dubai next season.
