69th running of the Yasuda Kinen at Tokyo

3 minute read

There aren't any foreign horses in this race for a change but it doesn't seem to matter as all eye will be on Almond Eye.

By Lord Kanaloa, she's a very exciting horse who has the versatility to win the Japan Cup last year and come back to this race over 1600.  In between she went to Dubai and won the Dubai Turf over 1800m.  There had been talk of sending her to France for the Arc but her connections have opted to stay home and will be probably after another Japan Cup next November.  Christophe Lemaire is her regular partner and he got back from suspension yesterday to just make it for this race.

Next in the market is Danon Premium, a 4yo colt by Deep Impact, who won the Yomiuri Milers Cup at his last outing and comes in to this on 3.6.  Yuga Kawada has the ride.  There is a bit of a gap then to Aerolithe, a 5yo mare by Kurofune, who will be ridden by Keito Tosaki and they are on 14.1, with her second in the Victoria Mile giving her a good form ref here plus her weight allowance.

Indy Champ is on 17.3, Stelvio (also by Lord Kanaloa) 20.0 has Damian Lane on board, and more or less take your pick and go for the multiples.
