A very gutsy filly

3 minute read

Channel, (no relation to Channel Maker), a bay filly by Nathaniel, won the Prix de Diane by a head from Commes.

Trained by Francis Graffard she had to dig deep to give the young trainer his first classic, and jockey P-C Boudot another G1.  Poor Commes had to settle for another second and denied J-C Rouget and Cristian Demuro their Classic double.

Third home was Grand Glory ridden by Gerald Mossé who started at 35.40 on the PMU, with Etoile, Cala Tarida (52.13) and favourite Siyarafina sixth (she was disadvantaged by her wide draw).

It was a good day for Godolphin and Charlie Appleby as Azano, under Robert Havlin, won the G3 Paul de Moussac, the G2 Prix Hocquart Al Hilalee under James Doyle and Vintager also under James Doyle the G3 Bertrand de Breuil.  At home at Doncaster they won another race with Aussie jockey Kerrin McEvoy riding.
