One more for Dettori at Ascot

3 minute read

This was on Advertise in the Commonwealth Cup.

But before that we saw favourite Daahyey continue her unbeaten run in the Albany in what was a very open race.  Second home was Celtic Beauty on25/1 and there was a real roughie in third – Aroha – on 100/1 with Alabana Whitman fourth at 50/1.  Very good if you had the first four!  It was too much for the American babies – a big ask for 2yos to travel so far and Last Surprise answered part of her name by running last!

Japan put up a masterclass in winning the Edward VII over 2000m from Bangkok – Andrew Balding and de Souza for King Power racing and then a neck to Eagles By Day for Michael Bell and Daniel Tudhope.

So cometh the Commonwealth Cup and cometh Dettori on the Martin Meade trained Advertise with the second Forever in Dreams in the female wing of the winner's ownership.  She was on 20/1 for Aidan Fogerty with Oisin Murphy riding.  Third went to Hello Youmzain and Ten Sovereigns a disappointing fourth – never really in it.

The Coronation Stakes saw the French invader Watch Me 20/1 with P-C Boudot riding for the in-form Francis Graffard (trainer of Channel in the French Diane last weekend).  She was impressive in beating Hermosa and third Jubiloso should pick up a good race soon.  Twist'n'shake was fourth ahead of the other French raider Castle Lady.
