Master Class

3 minute read

One Master may have been favourite in the Falmouth but it was Sir Michael Stoute who gave a master class.

He won the G1 for the sixth time with Veracious who was given a confident ride by Oisin Murphy.  Following the Ascot run they decided to bring Veracious here and let her "go" which worked, with One Master second and I Can Fly third.

Earlier Mark Johnston had given another trainer's master class when Raffle Prize defeated favourite Daayeh.  Final song was third.

Saturday's card features the G2 Superlative and the G1 Darley July Cup.  The former is over 1400m for the 2yos.  Appleby-Doyle have King's Command on top here on 2/1 with Year Of The Tiger on 4/1 for O'Brien-Moore.  Juan Elcano is an interesting runner from Kevin Ryan's yard who is on 61 with Andrea Atzeni riding.

The July Cup has 12 runners and it is a very competitive field.  Advertise is on 3/1 following his Ascot win but this is harder.  Dream Of Dreams is ticking boxes and is on 9/2, Cape Byron is on 6/1 and this could be a watershed for Ten Sovereigns who is on 7/1.  Simgapore's Lim's Cruiser was not disgraced at Ascot and the 661 outsider of the field is not that bad.

The Bunbury Cup is a cavalry charge over 1400m with 19 runners.  Pick a number!
