McKinzie's Whitney

3 minute read

Thunder Snow was scratched from this leaving the coast clear for McKinzie to score a worthy victory in the G1 at Saratoga.

'With the field reduced to 7 runners he had no problems in finding his way to the line, followed by Yoshida 1 ¾ lengths back and then a gap of 4 ¼ lengths to Vino Rosso.

Earlier in the Test Corfefe and Serengetti Emperess put on great show fighting all the way down the straight, with the judge finally giving the victory to Corfefe by a nose.  Bellafina was 8 ¾ lengths back in third.

At Del Mar it was all Amalfi Sunrise in the G2 Sorrento, with a powerful performance to finish 6l ahead of Powerful Attraction in the 6 horse contest.

It was another tight finish in the Yellow Ribbon when Beau Recall finished a nose in front of Storm the Hill, with favourite Vasilika third.

On Sunday the Saratoga Derby will be run  on the turf with a field of 11 over the 1900m.

Rockemperor, with a 6th in the French Derby and 3rd in the Belmont gets the top quote here of 7/2.  Digital Age is on 5/1, together with Henleys Joy who won the Belmont version.  Aidan O'Brien is responsible for the raiders with Mohawk on 7/1 and Cape of Good Hope 14/1.  A very open race.
