Code of Honor wins Travers

3 minute read

There was a thrilling finish to the Travers as Tacitus and Mucho Gusto were having a battle down the straight when Code of Honor swept past them.

Code of Honor now has a "win and you're in" to the Breeders' Cup.  Trainer McCaughey said after the race that they had decided to skip the other Triple Crown races and save the horse for this race, and the decision paid off.

In the earlier races Mitole was an easy winner of the Forego with Firenze Fire 3 lengths away second and 33/1 shot Killybegs Captain third.

Come Dancing stepped away with the Ballerina with Dawn The Destroyer second and Separationofpowers having to settle for fourth.

Bit of an upset in the Allen Jerkins with the first two home Mind Control and Hog Creek both starting on 10/1. Shancelot and Rowayton followed.

Chad Brown had better luck in the Balleston Spa when Significant Form won, and his French import Mascha didn't fire.  Indian Blessing was second and Starship Jubilee third.

No problems for Midnight Bisou in the Personal Ensgn although Elate kept her honest and the final verdict was just a nose.

Brown saddled another winner in the Sword Dancer when Annals of Time got the win over Sadler's Joy with Channel Cat finishing in third ahead of Channel Maker.
