This is run at the Curragh on Sunday and distinct from the English equivalent is not restricted to 3yos.

Last year's Melbourne Cup winner Cross Counter is here and will be challenged by Kew Gardens.  They are 5/2 and 11/4 respectively, and Southern France is here on 7/1.  There are a number of runners here who could be heading to Melbourne shortly.

Earlier on the card the Blandford Stakes is G2 over 2000m for f&m 3+ and 10 go to post.

Dermot Weld saddles the Aga Khan's Tarnawa who is on 2/1, with the O'Brien Goddess who has won her last two outings on 11/4.  Ger Lyons's Who's Steph is handy and is on 6/1.

The Flying Five G1 for 3y+ has 12 starters.  Ed Lynam has a knack with sprinters and has Soffia here on 9/4.  Mabs Cross is on 9/2, Soldier's Call 5/1 and the former Aussie Houtzen now with Martyn Meade is on 11/2.

The Moyglare Stud Stakes is G1 for 2yo fillies over 1400 and there are 9 with Jessica Harrington's Albigna on 9/4 and the O'Brien Love on 11/2.

The Vincent O'Brien National Stakes is G1 for 2yo colts (no geldings) and fillies and here's another chance to see the brilliant Pinaturbo who is on 4/9.  Armory and Arizon – two more O'Briens – are on 7/2 and 8/1.

Yesterday at Leopardstown Mogul and Sinawann finished 1-2 in the Champions Juvenile.

We always say to watch the betting in Ireland and in the Paddy Power Betting Shop Stakes Norway had firmed into joint favourite with Buckhurst who he beat in the finish.  Blenheim Palace 20/1 was third.

The Irish Champion Stakes went to Magical, a well-deserved win, with Magic Wand second and Anthony van Dyck just a head away third, and the lovely Japanese mare Deidre not disgraced in fourth.

Lancaster House was the disappointment in the Boomerang which went to Space Traveller 13/2 by a neck from Matterhorn 7/2 and Pincheck 20/1 third.

Laurens was not lucky in the Matron which saw Iridessa win at 10/1 from a much better Hermosa with ¾ length the margin.
