Old Persian wins Northern Dancer at Woodbine

3 minute read

Old Persian produced the goods in the finish of the G1 Northern Dancer.

Under a strong ride from James Doyle Old Persian decided to race and not pay so much attention to the crowd and other distractions so that in the end he was able to win by 2 ½ lengths from Nessy who was just a nose in front of Focus Group.

Earlier Starship Jubilee stormed away with the Canadian with the more favoured runners Magnetic Charm and Competitionofideas fighting it out for the minor awards, with The Queen's Magnetic Charm just getting her nose in front.

The G1 Woodbine Mile went to El Tormenta, trained by Gail Cox and ridden by Eurica da Silva.  Got Stormy ran second with Raging Bull third.
