Certainly she had a weight allowance but it was more Chris Hayes's good ride that put her in a position where she could draw away from the field and win by 2 ¼ lengths from the fast-finishing Kew Gardens who came from the rear, with Southern France third and a creditable run from Cross Counter.  Weld won this race with Vintage Crop who then went on to win the Melbourne Cup.  Kew Gardens has top weight in the Cup and of course Cross Counter won it last year, and Southern France is heading to Melbourne as well.

The Blandford Stakes G2 went to Tarnawa for Weld and Hayes from Goddess with Credenz third.  Who's Steph was scratched.

The Flying Five was a Ballydoyle quinella when Fairyland just got the nose in front of stablemate So Perfect, with Invincible Army third.  All three started at 12/1.  Houtzen was disappointing.

Another Ballydoyle victory came in the Moyglare when Love got the victory in front of Daayeh by ¾ length with the same margin back to So Wonderful.

The Vincent O'Brien saw a stunning performance from Pinatubo with the Godolphin Appleby-Buick runner deploying the turbo boosters to win by 9 lengths.  This was reminiscent of Frankel as a 2yo and has seen him in short priced favouritism for next year's

Guineas.  Armory and Arizona followed in the distance.

There was a special charity race for Research and Trials for pancreatic cancer treatment which was prompted by Pat Smullen suffering from that condition.  Pat had wanted to ride in the race but a recent set back and a return to chemo ruled that out.  So his good friends Tony McCoy and Ruby Walsh fought out the finish.  Many contributed to the fund – jockeys and stablehands contributing their fees and prize monies and owners making very generous contributions.
