Ayr Gold Cup 2019

3 minute read

This popular Heritage Handicap has a maximum field of 25 runners for the 1200m contest.

Ger Lyons's Buffer Zone is well fancied here after a good performance at home and is 11/2.  Colin Keane as usual in the irons.  There's a bit of a lucky p8in about the rest with Gulliver on 8/1, Major Jumbo 14/1 and Stone of Destiny 14/1 our probable selections.

Earlier the Firth of Clyde G3 is for the 2yo fillies over 1200m and here Oriatht is 7/2, Lambeth Walk 9/2 and Rose of Kildare 6/1.

Down south at Newbury there's the Mill Reef for the 2yos over 1200m and we have the chance to see if the nicely named Pierre Lapin, brother to Harry Angel, can confirm the good impression he made on debut in May at Haydock.  He's 5/2, Mystery Power is7/2 and Malotru 5/1.
