It's Arc Weekend 2019!

3 minute read

One of the best weekends in racing, all roads lead to Paris and Longchamp this weekend.

Of course the big topic of conversation is will Enable make history and win a third Arc?  To get us in the mood there is a great program for Saturday with 2 G1s and 3 G2s.

Activities get underway with the G2 Prix Dollar over 2000m for 3y+ over 2000m and a field of 6.  Godolphin's Line of Duty is odds-on here for Appleby-Buick 8/11.  From the locals Skalleti is going for a 5th consecutive win and Pierre-Charles Boudot will ride for J. Reynier.  Villa Rosa is 4/1 for Francis Devin with Alexis Badel riding.

The Daniel Wildenstein is also G2 over 1600m for 3y+ and only 5 runners.  We like The Revenant here for Francis Graffard with P-C Boudot riding and he's going for a 6th consecutive win.  He's 5/1 with Olmedo the likely favourite on 7/4.

The Prix de Royallieu is the first of the G1s for f&m over 2800m with a field of 9. The going is expected to be on the soft side but it shouldn't be too bad.  John Gosden saddles three here all of which have good chances – Enbihaar is 2/1 with Jim Crowley riding, Lah Ti Dar 5/1 with William Buick in the irons and Anapurna 4/1 with Dettori on board.  However we like the local Musis Amica here – she was scratched from the Arc to run in this ad is 5/1 with Barzalona riding for Fabre.

The G2 Prix Chaudenay is over 3000m for 3yos and there are 10 to go headed by the Godolphin Moonlight Spirit on 7/2 – Appleby-Buick and then there's Mark Johnston's Nayef Road with Dettori on board and 11/4 the quote.  Best of the locals could be Fabre's Muette on 9/1.

The G1 Prix Cadran is a great race for the stayers over 3600m with Mark Johnston's Dee Ex Bee on 6/5 with Barzalona riding.  Freddy Head's Call the Wind is 4/1 with Adrian Lemaitre on board and Way To Paris 6/1 for Marcialis and Cristian Demuro.

We will preview Arc day races later – it's a busy weekend on several fronts!
