Cesarawitch weekend

3 minute read

Back to Newmarket this weekend which used to be more or less the finish of the flat racing season.

Now that has been extended so this weekend we have G1s on both Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday there's the G2 Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards Challenge  for 3yo over 1400m.  Only 5 to go and it looks like it could be between Mustashry and Shine so Bright.

The G1 is the Fillies Mile for 2yo fillies with a field of 9.  Quadrilateral is favourite for the Guineas at this stage and comes in to this on 2/1 for Roger Charlton and Jason Watson but we are very keen on Jessica Harrington's Cayenne Pepper 11/4 with Shane Foley on board.  Love is also promising for Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore.

On Saturday the Dewhurst is G1 for 2yo colts and fillies and here we get to see the exciting Pinaturbo – Appleby-Buick's super-charged colt who is odds-on here 1/3.  There are two Aidan O'Briens here – Wichita and Arizona.

The Cesarawitch, the second of the two big Autumn handicaps, is over 3600m and has a field of 31.  They start off in one country and finish in another.  We love Buildmeupbuttercup – Willie Mullins and Frankie Dettori combine here.  Sir Mark Prescott saddles Land of Oz and Timoshenko here and both are on 7/1.  Andrew Balding's Ranch Hand is 8/1 with Oisin Murphy riding.
