Downdraft is trained by the 2017 cup winning trainer Joseph O'Brien and ran third last Saturday in the Moonee Valley Cup won by Hunting Horn, who got his place in the cup assured by the win. John Allen has the ride.
Haky is trained in France by John Hammond and comes into contention here after a good performance in the Geelong Cup. He looks as if he can stay for ever and a day and will be ridden by Linda Meech.
Chief Ironside runs in the Kennedy Cantala after his excellent win last Saturday in the Mile. He's not aiming for the Cup as the 1600m is his trip but as he is now owned by Australian connections they are obviously keen the see him perform again.
