With visiting jockey Christophe Soumillon on board, she found a good position on the rails while Crocosmia led the field until at the 200m Soumillong found a gap and pushed through and she responded.  This was a most satisfying result for the daughter of Orfevre who had been the 2yo Horse of the Year two years back.  Loves Only You was not able to match her turn of foot and finished third following Crocosmia who had stuck on for second.

There wasn't much distance between the 2nd to 6th finishing horses as they were all a neck away from each other.

On Saturday Red Bel Jour under Yutaka Take won the Daily Hai Nisai Stakes from Win Greatest who started on 30.9 and favourite Pale Ale took third spot.  Wrightia waws a reasonable run in fifth but she may be better against her own sex.

News today that there are no International runners in the Japan Cup this year.  This has to be a major blow to the JRA.
