Indy Champ gets the double

3 minute read

It is not often that a horse wins both the Yasuda Kinen and the Mile Championship in the same year.

Sunday at Kyoto Indy Champ did just that, defeating odds-on favourite Danon Premium by 1 ½ lengths.  Ridden by Kenichi Ikezoe who was standing in for the suspended Y. Kawada, he gave his jockey a 25th G1.  He will now go to Hong Kong for the International Mile.  Persian Knight under Oisin Murphy finished third.

Not quite sure what happened to Al Ain as he was up there for a while and then went back through the field to finish at the rear.  We wish the stewards reports were available to the public as they are in Hong Kong and Singapore.
