One of the oldest races on the South American Racing calendar, the G1 St Leger was run over 2200m at the HIpodromo Chile on Saturday.
The result was a change of luck for El Barrero, who had shown promised but not had the best luck in his previous starts. Under Guillermo Pontigp the Rodrigo Lopez trained colt won by 2 ½ lengths from Coconut Bobby in second with another son of Shanghai Bobby the favourite Keito running third. A good crowd was in attendance to witness this and several other races of note.
